Red Caboose

The caboose is Central’s memorial to the Atlanta and Richmond Air Line Company whose rail line brought the town to life. With the railroad’s arrival in 1873, Central became the terminal for refueling and changing engines. Homes, shops, and stores began cropping up to accommodate the incoming railroad workers, and a town was born.
